Read what previous delegates have said about our course

Effective engagement, useful sharing of experiences and knowledge. The course leaders were extremely professional and knowledgeable.
I came away feeling empowered and loaded with knowledge.
Really well put together and enabling me to confidently plan my role as SMHL.
I like being able to listen to other schools and their approaches. I’m also really benefiting from solidifying our approaches through your guidance and training.

Using a variety of face-to-face group and individual sessions, delivered virtually or in-person, our course covers the following aspects of the ‘Eight principles to promoting a whole school and college approach to emotional health and wellbeing’:

  • 1.
    Staff development
  • 2.
    Leadership and management
  • 3.
Working with parents, families and carers

The course will be delivered by a former primary Head and secondary school SLT member supported by our in-house Clinical Psychologist, all who have first-hand experience of supporting individuals experiencing challenges with their mental health.

Course Content

The course covers a wide range of topics, including:

  • Understanding your role as a Senior Mental Health Lead
  • Exploring strategies to help everyone support their own mental health

The course will use an innovative approach, spread across three terms, to help you gain confidence and ensure that your strategy is successfully implemented and sustainable for the long term.

  • Attend two one-day in-person or four 3-hour online training sessions
  • One individual telephone conversation with the trainer

Term Two

  • One online conference
  • One individual telephone conversation with the trainer

Term Three

  • One online conference

The telephone conversations will provide an opportunity to discuss how implementation of your strategy is going and develop approaches to overcome any barriers that have been encountered.

The online conferences allow continued dialogue between members of the training cohort, so that ideas can be shared, challenges overcome and successes celebrated. It is intended that the cohort will continue to organise conferences going forward into year two.
